Rainbows of the Night
When sadnesses besiege me,
At the dying of the light,
And starlight illuminates,
The ending of the day,
Then fractious star-crossed lovers
Just quietly drift away.
……
We sigh so silently, out of sight
Of mirrors, water, eyes, light,
And find, momentarily,
Man loses his disguise.
……
We spin and whirl and dance,
Like hemlock drunk in hay;
We are Witch, Wicca, Wizard
Who sway beneath the moon, all night
All day, we dream our dreams away.
…..
For all that was lost
Is summoned a-new,
Pentacles set aflame tonight,
Beneath the sky, the earth, the pellucid light.
……..
Time and tide and star-shine do not lie,
A pharmacology of shadow bleeds out the day
As warp and weft weave their weary way
Towards the dying of the light,
The goddess in the moon deceiving,
As light bends, curves away —
Aphrodite-night occurs, by day.
